Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is the use of Yoga where there is a specific health need or requirement.

Yoga Therapy uses the practices that you would find in many Yoga classes; movement/postures, working with the breath, meditation, awareness of the body and/or mind, relaxation, and these are directed to the needs and ability of the person concerned.

The aim of Yoga Therapy is to promote good health for the person as a whole – the emphasis of this work may be towards the body, the mind, the emotions or a combination of these.

Yoga can bring us awareness of the body and mind; and more understanding of how to help the body, emotions or patterns of thinking and provides a practical approach to developing a positive state of health and wellbeing.

Yoga Therapy has evolved through the natural combination of traditional yoga with modern medicine. By tailoring yoga practices to individual needs, whilst taking medical considerations into account, Yoga Therapy creates a positive effective practice specific to the client and assists in the treatment of various medical conditions including anxiety, back pain, arthritis, hypertension, heart conditions, hyperventilation, asthma, digestive problems, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome (ME), fibromyalgia, RSI, migraine, insomnia, anxiety, depression and stress. Yoga Therapy can also promote positive health in people of all ages.

Our approach to Yoga Therapy

Yoga Therapy is available to individuals through one-to-one sessions or in small therapy groups. Yoga Therapy can be practiced in conjunction with medical treatments you are already receiving, and also in tandem with other complementary therapies.

No prior experience of yoga is necessary

During your initial session, your therapist will be finding out all about you and your needs. Information about your energy levels, sleep pattern, diet, previous medical history and stress triggers. During the session various practices will be offered to help bring you back into a state of wellbeing and balance. You will leave with a carefully written plan of instructions, so you can practice on your own.

Sessions can be arranged weekly, monthly or as often as suits you. Please contact Daniel directly on 07867 526725 to discuss further.
