In today’s blog we have something a little different: a story from one of our community about their cervical screening, or smear test.
I have always had my smear tests. They have always been clear… until this one. From nowhere I had severely abnormal cell changes. Because they were caught through screening they have been swiftly dealt with and removed. Please don’t put off your smear test… it isn’t worth the risk.
We’re so pleased that this story ended well, and we encourage anyone with any health concerns to visit their GP.
If you would like to learn more about cervical screening, what’s involved and why it is so important, please visit the NHS website or Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. Cervical screening is available from your GP – you will get a letter when you’re due for your screening.
Do you have a story to share about cervical screening or dealing with a health issue? We’re always keen to help continue the conversation around mental and physical health, so if you would like to share your story on our blog, please email anahata.leighonsea@gmail.com. We are more than happy to keep your story anonymous.
