In this podcast episode we speak to Gabi Parkham (she/her) about the work she is doing to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ people and how they can be supported in Yoga and Pregnancy Yoga classes.
We also discussed the recent LGBTQIA+ 6 month yoga mentoring program she developed, which our co-host Daniel Groom was part of.
During these conversations we also talked about White Supremacy and Cultural Appropriation of Yoga, as well as the fantastic new film “Everyone’s Talking About Jamie”.
Gabi Parkham has been practicing yoga since childhood and teaching for over 7 years. She is passionate about finding equity and justice through yoga and making yoga accessible to as many people as possible. Gabi has trained in many different styles of yoga but particularly loves bringing intuitive movement, pain science, and deep rest into her classes. Since coming out as bisexual aged 18, Gabi has been an active LGBTQIA+ equity educator and consultant; leading LGBT+ trainings in schools, youth movements, for perinatal professionals, and for civil servants.

Podcast reviews:
“Always enlightening and interesting! Good for the soul – friendly, inclusive, informative and caring, like a warm hug from a good friend. What more could you want from a podcast?”
“Fantastic podcast. Wonderful interesting subjects and very enjoyable to listen to.”
“Incredible!!! Spirituality plus real life, sprinkled with a huge dose of love. This podcast will speak to your soul. Raw, authentic and honest. Despite how it’s commercially depicted, yoga isn’t some contortionist act or sweating in a studio. Nor is it a group hippies chanting. Yoga is life. This podcast is an absolute blessing!!”
