Yoga and Pilates Teacher
A back injury led Nikki to Pilates. Astonished by the results, she trained as a Level 4 Specialist Teacher in Exercise for the Management of Low Back Pain and GP Referral and is a Pilates for the Pelvic Floor teacher.
With an enduring personal yoga practise she went on to qualify as a teacher in 2009. Her two beloved disciplines are inseparable and her classes, whether Yoga or Pilates, are mindful of posture and the balance of strength, flexibility and breathe, and are always spine-kind. When she is not being mum to her two boys, or teaching, she indulges in her passion for music – especially David Bowie – as well as comedy improvisation. Nikki also has a monthly wellbeing radio show, ‘The Soul Food Kitchen’ on www.shipfullofbombs.co.uk.
Barbara came to Pilates in 1993 after developing back trouble through looking after her young children. Inspired by the improvement, Barbara’s commitment to regular sessions as a student is as strong as ever, to maintain core strength and flexibility and to avoid the recurrence of old back issues. 2013 saw the family fly the nest, and she started training with Michael King, one of the leading Pilates teachers practising today. Training in Matwork 1, 2 and 3.
Barbara is an empathetic teacher, in a group class environment, she is always vigilant, varying the content and pace to reflect the needs of the students, and endeavours to provide individual coaching when needed.
Barbara’s interests include tennis, personal training and generally keeping fit. She is also a rugby fan – by default on the basis that “if you can’t beat them, join them”.
Yin YogaSarah loves to travel and has learnt from many beautiful teachers abroad. In Bangkok she practiced Vipassana meditation at Wat Mahathat with the Buddhist monks that live and teach there. In 2010 took Reiki 1st degree with her teacher in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She is now an 8th Generation Reiki Master.
In India she lived and studied yoga at Swan Ashram in Goa. And then completed my 200hr Teacher Training at Himalaya Yoga Valley and is am a member of Yoga Alliance.
Once teaching she fell in love with the calming and restorative effects of yin yoga. And subsequently trained with Sarah Lo and this continues to be her area of passion.
Her time in India left her inspired to teach in a style that honours a traditional approach. Focussing on healing and strengthening the body and mind with internal focus, connection to the body and use of breath.
